Praise, praise, first and foremost praise!

"Aaahhh-whey-whooooo-ya!" "Aaahhh-whey-whooo-ya!", my 3 year old grandson sat in his car seat singing a praise song to God. His tiny neck was outstretched straining toward heaven as if he didn't want any part of his glorious song to escape the ears of the Father . My first response was laughter and joy as I delighted in this adorable sight. But then the true significance of what was taking place between little Jakey and the Creator of the universe brought me to the realization of what I was witnessing; no other response but stillness was appropriate...I was witnessing a sacred moment.

It's been awhile since that day, but it was brought to remembrance due to the fact that I have been thinking a lot about Psalm 8 lately. The Lord has set creation before us as a powerful reminder of His unshakable strength and preminence over all. As a follower of Christ, not only do I have a rightful place in ruling over His creation, but the jewel for me in these days, lies in verse 2...

    "LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
       in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger"

There is a powerful dimension of spiritual authority given to me through the act of praise. The simplist praise embodies the authority to silence the lies and break the powerful schemes of the enemy. I realize more and more that I am but a child, so often I cry out for Him to take my hand and lead me, to give me a willing spirit to be led. But there is something that He requires of me, no matter what circumstance I find myself in...to praise Him! Who in their right mind wants to drag around an ungrateful, bitter, and complaining child!?!

What lies of the enemy are you battling to resist? What schemes of the enemy are you entangled in? Is it injustice? A wounded heart? Confusion and turmoil that leads to unrest? Remember to approach your Daddy with praise; look for the smallest thread of truth in your darkness and make it your proclamation of praise! It is the very thing our enemy hates, for it is what he coveted for himself at the time of the fall.

"You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon." Isaiah 14:13

I envision the enemy shirking in disgust and turning to flee each time I yield and surrender in praise as a result of his schemes of destruction. Perhaps your darkness is overwhelming the recognition of that tiniest thread of truth, spend time today or this evening alone with Him in creation. Sit in wonder at the sunset, be still under the moon and stars. He has given us creation to speak to us of His eternal nature. And when His Spirit reminds you of what is true...stretch out your neck toward heaven, shout it out in praise! Let's shake off the "appropriateness" of our adulthood and recapture the delight of a child.

At a visit to the Grand Canyon, I found this plaque posted at the outlook of the Canyon. How very surprising, but astoundingly relevant! May it minister to you as it has continued to minister to me.

Everyone has a story! And I'd like to tell you a little about mine... I placed my faith in Christ at the age of 15, even at that young age I realized that there were radical life adjustments needed to follow Him. I can remember the very first Scripture the Lord used to impact my life, it was in the Book of Matthew. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" Although the riches of the world were far from my grasp then, I knew that He was calling me to lay down the things that I treasured above Him, so that I could experience an abundant life here and beyond. It was the beginning of an incredible love story for me! Since then, my daily desire has been to live out that scripture. And the key to accomplishing that for me was found in the following Scripture written by one of my mentors, the apostle Paul. “And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15 I find myself daily needing to "choose Him" over my own desires, but the more I know of Him, the easier it is to die to me! My passion is to share this adventure with others, helping them to live up to their God-given potential. Following Christ isn't always easy, but it is incredibly fulfilling. I love to speak at retreats, conferences, and special events. My adventuresome spirit has lead me to places around the world to teach and to minister in a variety of ways. I am always amazed at how the Spirit of God connects us and transcends even language barriers. I strongly believe in the ministry of the local church and have been a part of ministry staff in years past. But my greatest joy is pouring into others in such a way as to see real, authentic, life change! There's nothing like it. I am currently becoming certified as a Life Coach, and I'm looking forward to coming alongside individuals to assist them in making progress both personally and spiritually. It's something I have enjoyed doing informally for many years, with great results. Just a few quirky things about me... The only ice cream I will eat is Baskin & Robbins "Chocolate Fudge", thrift stores are my weakness, and my two Jack Russells, "Pete" and "Penny" keep me young! (And stressed) I hope to meet you soon and to hear your story, perhaps we can write the next chapter of our lives together... Because He Lives, Tina Marie To learn more about me and the ministry the Lord has called me to, you may want to go to my "Travels with God" page.
